Kool-Aid Painting

Several months ago, I posted about the fun we had using the unsweetened packets to make Kool-Aid playdoh.  Well, this week, we used some of those leftover packets in the pantry to do some painting.  It was super easy to prepare, the colors were nice and vibrant, and it smelled awesome!!

You can tell when my 8-year old has painted ~ rainbows everywhere!

Here's how we did it (and it couldn't be easier!)

1.  Gather up a few packets  of unsweetened Kool-Aid in colors you want. (the packets are usually less than 25 cents each)

Our generic packet still had a vibrant color, but didn't have quite as much scent as the brand name.

2.  Empty each packet into a small cup or container and add water.  The less water you use, the more vibrant your colors will be.  (We used the small 3oz drink cups and filled it about halfway)

3.  That's it!  Start painting!!  We used a combination of the Kool-Aid paints and regular crayons so the kids could get the details and variety of colors that they wanted, but I'm sure younger kids would be just as happy with one or two colors of paint.  ( NOTE: The concentrated Kool-Aid liquid will stain, so wear old clothes or a smock just to be safe.)

4.  Admire your finished pieces.  Ours still have a slight scent even a few days later.
