My inspiration for this project came from
this gorgeous wreath by Krafty Kat. As soon as I saw it, I bookmarked it in my "Things to Try SOON!" folder. I loved how bright and colorful it was and that the kids could be involved in its creation. However, I only had one empty egg carton, so I adapted the wreath to match what I had on hand.
SUPPLIES:
- foam wreath form
- egg carton
- acrylic paints
- patterned paper
- fabric strips or ribbon to wrap around the wreath
- hot glue gun
DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut apart your egg carton into 12 individual cups, then cut each cup into a flower shape ( I did a couple different kinds of petals.)
2. Using your acrylic paints, paint the inside and outside of each flower.
3. While your kids are hard at work painting their flowers (and it does keep them busy for awhile!), wrap your wreath with fabric strips or ribbon.
I cut 1" strips from a pretty green fabric I bought for another project.
Then wrapped it around my wreath, hot gluing it place.
4. Next we cut some circles from patterned scrapbook paper for the center of our flowers and glued them in place.
We just used regular glue so the girls could do this step.
5. Then I got work gluing our flowers into place.
6. Finally, I cut out a few leaves from some green patterned scrapbook paper, glued them in place and added a ribbon to the top for hanging.
I think the little leaves are a cute touch!
